D4D Ingenieria Visual S.L
D4D Ingenieria Visual ( or D4D is a production company of Spain with 20 years of experience in producing films, adverts, musical videos and more, with one thousand overall.
D4D has achieved a lot of awards and recognitions including a nomination in the Latin Grammy Awards.
For the last five years, D4D has produced several stereoscopic projects with various patents and we have already made several stereoscopic productions with different customers and successful results.
Our role or task in the project area would focus on the capture and execution of stereoscopic images. And more specifically in developing the necessary tools for standardization and automation of the recording process.

HISPASAT is a regional satellite operator. Since its establishment in 1989, HISPASAT has managed to consolidate its position as a leading reference in the distribution of satellite television and radio channels and the transmission of digital television platforms in Europe, America and North Africa. NDS Technologies France

Pace France involved in the project, was born in April 2008 following the acquisition by Pace Plc of «Philips Home Networks France». Pace Plc is headquartered in Saltaire, near Leeds in the UK and employs nearly 1000 employees over the world, see

Philips Innovative Applications, Bruges, Belgium (PIA)
The Philips site in Bruges is a global Innovation Center for the television platforms and for the Upmarket Displays television sets within Philips Consumer Lifestyle (CL). Over the last years, the center has grown to be an international competence center for upmarket television and the single European center for development of televisions in the Philips group.
The Innovation Center’s objective is to develop and deliver the best television viewing experience encompassing image and sound quality, design and styling, connectivity, ease of use, technological innovation. It has introduced such innovative features as 100Hz, PixelPlus, Ambilight in televisions and all along has been at the forefront of flat and wide screen technology and products. It has won multiple awards and recognitions for its products, including as latest example the EISA Best European LCD TV in 2008-2009.
The Innovation Center in Bruges is a multidisciplinary center for development, including electronics, mechanics, software, system integration. These disciplines are structured in interdisciplinary function teams that focus on specific functional domains (e.g. video, audio, styling, UI, etc). In addition, competence teams complement the organization in domains like CAD, EMC, testing and validation, configuration management, process improvements.
The Innovation Center has a close cooperation with Philips Research and the Advanced Technology Lab in Eindhoven. It is also closely involved in the industrialization of the products, including preparation and tuning of production processes, which can then be deployed to mass production centers globally.

Telefonica Servicios Audiovisuales
Telefónica Servicios Audiovisuales is a 100 % TELEFONICA company and the role of the company is to provide services and solutions in regards with the audiovisual market.
TSA offers services that could cover the idea for contents, technical resources for production ( 5 studios, 3 OBVANs in SD and HD, Postproduction rooms, playout systems, etc…), technical resources for the distribution/contribution of the contents (using satellite, optical fibre or any other transmission media that could fit the needs of our clients).
TSA also develops turnkey projects mainly focus on the integration of SD/HD Production centres, OBVANs, DSNGs, etc… As an example of this activity, four of the last five new regional TV stations in Spain have been integrated by TSA, and we have made the migration to digital of all the news rooms and journalist system for RTVE.
TSA has a Technology Department dedicated to research and development of new products and services related with last audiovisual technologies as High Definition TV, 3D TV and Digital Cinema.

Trinnov Audio is a highly innovative and research-focused audio lab that specializes in the measurement, analysis and digital correction of room acoustics. VITEC Multimedia is a leader in digital video technology and is developing and manufacturing original multimedia products at the point where micro-computing and video technology meet. Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroep (VRT)
The Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroep (VRT) is the public broadcaster of the Flemish Community in Belgium. Its mission is to reach the greatest possible number of viewers and listeners with a diversity of programs that arouse their interest and fulfill that interest.
This mission and accompanying regulations are written down in the coordinated Flemish Media Decrees and a contract with the Flemish Government. The most recent decree dates from 27 March 2009. The contract came into being in 1997 and is renewed every five years. The current contract covers the period from 2007 through 2011. It describes the rights and duties of the public broadcaster, and its yearly financial envelope.
VRT distributes its products over all relevant media: radio, television, Internet and mobile, and over all relevant analogue and digital networks. The leading principles are maximum reach, neutrality, non-exclusivity, non-discrimination and not market disturbing.
The current contract specifically stipulates research and development in media as a supplementary remit, which is specified in detail in a separate contract.
The primary VRT products are the television channels Eén, Ketnet and Canvas, and the radio channels Radio 1, Radio 2, Klara, Studio Brussel, MNM and RVI. The television channels had a joint common market share of 40 per cent in 2008, the radio channels of 66 per cent. VRT also offers web sites for each of its channels, a teletext service and a news website
The technological research department of VRT, i.e. VRT-medialab, has wide experience in research regarding media content creation, management and distribution. Since 2009, VRT-medialab is building up its theoretical and practical knowledge on 3D TV.

In 1980 Ludo Maes started out with a small enthusiastic team. Initially, the company concentrated entirely on electronic news gathering activities. Over the years, Videohouse has become the market leader and the only integrated provider of television facilities in Belgium.
The Videohouse service offering ranges from newsgathering, reporting, recording of sports, games and cultural events to studio programs. Videohouse makes corporate films, commercials and DVDs. The services on offer also include web casting, engineering of AV installations and the operation of entire TV channels.
The integration of the most diverse audiovisual services makes Videohouse unique on the Belgian market. The integrated approach relies on years of experience and is firmly rooted in the media sector. University of Nantes- IRCCyN
Université de Nantes-IRCCyN is a joint research unit (UMR 6597) of CNRS associated with Université de Nantes. IRCCyN is composed of about 250 persons. IRCCyN is composed of 13 research groups among which IVC research group (Image and Video Communications) addresses activities in the multimedia communications systems. The IVC group is composed of 35 members (12 professors, 5 research engineers, 18 PhD students). One of the originality of IVC studies relies for more than 20 years on the consideration of the human visual system in the design of image and video services. Towards this goal, three major issues are currently of interest: understanding visual perception, quality of experience assessment, visual attention modeling.
Concerning QoE assessment, IVC is or has been recently involved in several collaborative projects such as the project ITEA HD4U (assessment of HD services), Scalimages from Image and Network cluster (assessment of H264 SVC in HD and mobile scenarios), Futurimages from Image and Network cluster (assessment of new HDR and 3D displays), EQUIMOSE (impact of medical imaging technologies on Quality of diagnosis).
The group has expertise and several testing facilities, including standardized environment to characterize visual performance assessment of 3D services. Specifically it includes several 3D display solutions and set up to exploit them in the context of studies with human observers.

University of Zaragoza
The Department of Civil and Industrial Engineering of the University of Zaragoza (DIDYF) researches, designs and develops techniques and stereoscopic devices with applications for the audiovisual industry. It has its own technical workshop with CAD design tools and digitally controlled machinery, based on laser measuring tools.

Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM)
The Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) is a major University of Spain, the top one for engineering studies. Its teaching activity covers all engineering specialisation and its research activity, particularly in Information Technologies and Telecommunications, has a strong European connection through the Framework Programme (ICT, IST, Esprit, ACTS, Telematics, Race, Aim, Brite, …) plus Eureka, Cost and contracts with ESA.

The Grupo de Tratamiento de Imágenes (GTI) is a research group on theory, methods, and applications of Digital Image Processing, mainly for compression and analysis. It was established in 1981 and has achieved a successful record of graduate and postgraduate students (teaching in Digital Image Processing, Television, Image Encoding, Graphics, Computer Vision, and Telecommunications Systems) and of relevant participations in research projects related to visual communications, real time computer vision, and multimedia telecom applications. Currently, the GTI activity and key interest is end-to-end 3D visual information delivery (3D Television – 3DTV), thus covering: acquisition, calibration, representation (encoding), compression, transmission, rendering, quality evaluation, wireless broadcasting, … This global interest on 3DTV also covers “Immersive video communications”. The faculty members of the Group are deeply involved in European and Spanish research committees and are main contributors to MPEG and JVT, where one of the GTI members is the Spanish National Head of Delegation. GTI infrastructure includes a complete 3DTV Laboratory (3DTV Lab) endowed with a full 3D acquisition system (endowed with a hanging structure and many cameras), and several 3D displays (auto-stereoscopic and holographic), as well as conventional equipment like processors, cameras, recorders, and displays.
